Winter-time Catch Up!

I totally forgot this blog existed... again, and figured I should catch up!

First, I'm a certified CNA! Woohoo! I had to do a State Exam, both written and skills testing, and even with all of my nervous jitters, I actually did it! Our CNA program started in late August, and I got my license mid-November. Now I've got to apply for a job, hopefully at the hospital.

Second, marching band season came and went, and we were placed 2nd in the STATE of Colorado for the third year in a row! It was super exciting. Our show was called Luminescence, and had to do with different aspects of light. We go through the children's tune "This Little Light of Mine," as well as playing music from the Renaissance (the Age of Enlightenment), playing "Clair de Lune" representing light of the moon, and finally the kind of light that fills our homes and such. We even got new uniforms JUST in time for the state competition, which was a surprise since they weren't supposed to be there until afterwards.

And finally, it's really cold. That's it.

Here are some pictures!

August-

Ready for my last year of Band Camp with my handy-dandy fanny pack. This is how you get the boys, duh.

Dramatic candid laying in the grass picture Maddy took during a "photoshoot" we had.

Maddy and I went to a barn dance in our flannels!

Me and the best friend at the barn dance! She went for more of the "country rapper" look. LOL.

September-

My senior pictures were taken by my wonderful Auntie Sage! They're kinda scattered here, but I think they turned out great! These are only a few of many! :)

My best friend (bless her heart) can't park. So I was absorbing its negative energy. And blocking the license plate number so she could take a picture of her bad parking job.

I was on a double date, and I was driving us all around when we realized that one of my lights was out... This is when we went into creativity mode, and took two glow sticks and taped them to my light with medical tape that we found in my car. It worked like a charm... kinda... not really. But makes a good story, right?

On my 18th birthday, I went to Dutch Bros for a free drink! And as you can see, it was bigger than my face. And it was awesome.

Bought my first lotto ticket on my 18th bday! I didn't win, but the ticket was only $2.00, so it's all good.

October-

My Mellophone fam went to a haunted corn maze!

My friends and I watching other marching bands at a competition.

I was awarded the title of the Mello Mama.... I'm everyone's "motherly figure". :)

Kailey and me sporting our sweet new uniforms!!

Me and Maddy at our State Competition in Colorado Springs.

The mello fam in our new uniforms!!

Halloween! I was Wonder Woman (with socks that have capes. Yes, capes.), Maddy was a hippy, Grace and Savannah were witches, Jackson was Jack-Jack from "The Incredibles", and Stockton was Eyore!
November-

Brought Jackson into my Medical Careers class for Pediatrics day!

Me and Maddy playing "Go Fish" with socks, and Mama thought it was funny.

This is our whole band at State! I'm in the top left-ish corner, second row from the top :)

My snazzy EKG compression socks and blue scrubs that I wore the day of my CNA boards test!

Oregon 2016

Back in Oregon! It's been fun so far, going camping with the Douglas fam, seeing friends, and going to the pool. We still have yet to go to the beach, but when we do I'll post pictures!

Fourth of July!

Happy Fourth of July! We went to Portland this year, on the opposite side of the Willamette from the Blues Festival. We arrived there at 4pm, and the show started at 10:10pm... we had a good spot, so it was almost worth it. ;) The fireworks were amazing and loud as heck. The booms bounced off of the bridge above us, making it even more loud and obnoxious! It was an Independence Day well spent, and glad I could spend time with the family. :)

I just thought this was funny when I saw it on the way out. ;)
